How to create the perfect romantic moment to propose marriage?

How to create the perfect marriage proposal

You've been dating a while and ready to make the next step. You want to propose marriage, but dont want to do it in some random place without thought or planning. You want a romantic moment that you will both remember forever for all the right reasons! Luckily there are many great things you can do to create this kind of proposal - and Im going to tell you how!

Specialist Marriage Proposal Planner Amanda-Louise Knight shares her top tips when planning getting down on one knee

Choose the date

When planning to propose marriage, think about when you want to do it and give yourself plenty of time to organise. Does it work for the family? Can you get the time off work? Do you want to stay overnight somewhere to continue the celebrations? if you already have children, you'll need to consider who will look after the children. Or it might be you want to coordinate it in with their birthday or on the day you first met?

Choose the location

Think of places that you both like. If its winter time, then outside will need careful thought. I often get asked to organise helicopter rides in winter so they can propose whilst in the air, but if the weather is bad there is a strong chance it wont take off due to visibility - and even if they can, you wont have much to see! So always have a plan B contingency!

When considering where, think about transportation how you will get there; particularly if you are trying to keep it a surprise.

Hire an Expert

Being a specialist Marriage Proposal Planner means I do this all the time, so we talk about our client and their partner's likes and dislikes, we come up with some unique ideas, how to decorate an area, find the right suppliers for the occasion and will even be there on the day ensuring everything goes smoothly - all they have to do is be ready with the ring and ask the question (we definitely leave that bit up to you!)

The Theme

Giving thought to the type of occasion you want to create, will definitely show you have taken the effort. So if you are into art, then find the nearest art galleries to get down on one knee. If you like the countryside, why not think about our National Parks - Exmoor has some fabulous views (not to mention Somerset Cider!)

Guests

Another thing to think about is whether you want anyone else with you. For example family or friends. The more people who are in on this surprise, the more chance someone will let slip what you are planning.

Book All The Suppliers

Dont leave it to the last minute to find suppliers to create your most romantic event, as often suppliers get booked up in advance. Write out a list of the types of suppliers you want to be involved, for example:-

do you want a musician to serenade you

hire in lighting or buy some candles to create the right mood

flowers to present after they say yes

food or drink to celebrate in style

photographer or videographer to capture the moment

will they want to have visited the hairdressers or barbers recently, so they are looking their best (dont forget the nail bar!)

do you want a new outfit

....that will get you started Im sure!

Conclusion

And that's it! You've got all the information you need to get you started to plan your romantic marriage proposal event. Dont worry, if you give yourself a good lead time you will have time to carefully plan and organise it. If you want help finding recommended suppliers then get in touch with us, or any questions from what we've talked above here. We wish you all the best as newly engaged couple about to embark on this amazing journey in life together :)
