Real Romantic Love Story Proposal on board The Royal Yacht Britannia
I could not wait to share with you this romantic love story in March 2022 on board The Royal Yacht Britannia, the former British monarch's residence, which is now Scotland's prime attraction docked in Edinburgh. Michael from Somerset came to me looking to propose to his Polish girlfriend Iga and wanted a once in a lifetime occasion to surprise his soulmate.
Read how this wasnt the original plan, but with pulling out all the stops, this proposal was redesigned within short period of time resulting in a luxury engagement weekend full of celebrations.
The Details
Originally Michael wanted a medieval castle or Bridgeton feel hotel in either Cotswold or Scotland during our initial planning meetings, being flown in by Helicopter with a further lavish surprise when he was to pop the question. After carefully coordinating plans, these had to change due to Michael's workload, so with a short time frame, I was able to clear the diary and focus solely to ensure every detail was thought through to plan a weekend of celebrations. After re-submitting various ideas to Michael to fit in with his new dates, Michael felt the private evening tour would provide ever lasting memories.
I supplied Michael will a detailed itinerary for his weekend I had arranged, including which room and timings when to propose and confirmation everyone involved was keeping up with the secret.
The Location
Edinburgh was the chosen destination of a weekend packed celebrations for this surprise marriage proposal, and birthday the following day.
The Proposal Day
There was not a detail overlooked as Michael and Iga arrived to check into their accommodation on Edinburgh's top floating hotel The Fingal providing the couple a five-star experience.
During the evening a taxi whisked the couple off from The Fingal to the private quayside entrance (the previous entrance reserved for the Queen and the Royal family) where the couple boarded The Britannia greeted by a member of its crew, who was in on the surprise!
In fact the talented photographer Romena I had booked from Fern Photography was also in attendance posing as Britannia crew capturing images!
The couple were given a personal tour of dedicated crew member giving them insights into the history of the Yacht and how the Royal family lived on board.
Iga was blissfully unaware what was about to happen.
The Big Proposal Moment
As the couple entered the State Dining Room, the pianist I had booked played beautiful romantic music as Michael got down on one knee......
Michael was so romantic as he whispered some heartfelt words to Iga
On the Sunday with birthday celebrations I organised a basket of flowers to be delivered in the morning from her finance over breakfast, and as birthday gift the couple met the photographer I had arranged for an engagement shoot on their private deck before heading out into Edinburgh enjoying the scenery.
Later that evening I had booked the couple for private dining on the Fingal in The Bridge Room
to celebrate birthday and of course their engagement!
I could not be more excitable for this wonderful couple, congratulations Michael and Iga! I am so happy I was able to plan this surprise proposal and to bring it to life. Was my client pleased his original plans changed? Yes he was!
