M&M Wedding at Broadoaks Country House, Lake Windermere

Wedding Supplier Couple's Wedding Day Story

This wedding was unique and so much fun from start to finish! It was such a dreamy day filled with love and baby news surrounded by family and friends. I felt so honoured to have been choosen by this couple to be their Celebrant and Master of Ceremonies that day. Read their story...

The Wedding Couple

I originally met this couple as they too are wedding suppliers, and we instantly clicked. Mollie owns a catering business and Matt along with Mollie and the family own Quantocks Marquee Company. So what an honour it was having been picked as their chosen Celebrant from a couple working in the wedding industry! We had attended a wedding fair together, and had laughed so much, discussing some great ideas and I learned alot about their personalities and how important family life is to them both. We spent time together discovering their love story and ways in which I could retell their stories. What I can recall is alot of laughter during those meetings, Matt definitely has a wicked sense of humour and Mollie likes to make the big decisions.

They met during college days, Matt at Agricultural College and they both were part of the young farmers social clubs, where they loved performing and putting on shows - I loved watching their videos of their balloom and latin dancing!

The Proposal

Matt had planned to pop the question whilst they were on holiday in Tenerife on the beach, but Mollie had taken so long to get ready it was dark before they got there! Still who needs light?

Wedding Planning Inspiration

Mollie and Matt wanted a fun day of celebrations. As they are such big personalities, this was guaranteed! The day was to be filled with colour, love and fun times. Whilst they wanted the country vibe, they were able to capture the stunning views from the waters at Lake Windermere.

Matt had wanted some elements of religion weaved into their ceremony, so we opted to have short prayer that I read blessing the couple after they exchanged rings.

The Wedding Rehearsal

Rehearsals dont have to take place in the actual wedding venue, so we opted to hold this at the family home back garden, accompanied by their dogs and sheep! We didnt stop laughing the whole time, which eased the nerves ready for the big day.

The Wedding Destination

Whilst they had planned to have a wedding in Somerset, and the family had purchased the professional marquees, Mollie had seen a stunning hotel in Lake Windermere, so all the Somerset suppliers simply drove the distance. That was the start of the planning journey of Broad Oaks Country House Hotel.

Broadoaks Country House Hotel in Lake District was venue for celebrant wedding

What The Wedding Party Wore

Bride was in a beautiful long white dress and veil, and her Maid of Honour Becci with Bridesmaids Leah, Harriet and Lauren wore long pale blue dresses and carried bouquets
hand tied bodice at the back of bride's dress.
Groom Matt, Bestman Anthony, Groomsan Mat, the fathers and brother wore green tweed suits
The mother of the groom wore navy dress and hat
The mother of the bride wore pale pink dress with fascinator

The Wedding Day

that loving look when father of bride sees his daughter as she gets ready

The weather was unsettled that day, but last minute decision meant we were to have the ceremony outside in the gardens.

Groom Matt waits patiently for his bride!

Groosman Ben was on hand to walk guests to their seats, then Bestman Anthony with Groom Mat waited at the altar with myself waiting for Bride Mollie to arrive escorted by her father

The wedding was live streamed so that their grandparents could watch in the comfort of their own home as they were unable to make the journey. Videographer and Photographer expertly captured the moments

The Wedding Ceremony

During our planning meetings, the couple liked the idea of handfasting but wanted it in a modern way, so we incorporated handtying after the couple had exchanged their rings.

These are the hands of your best friend were said as Mollie and Matt held each other

We had words about what makes a good marriage, retold their love story and the expectation of the tiny patter of footsteps arrival - lucky not on the wedding day! The couple said personal vows to each other, and exchanged rings before signing their certificate.

We ended the ceremony with a hugh round of applause watching their kiss in wedding tradition

Wedding Music

Ed Sheeran 'Tenerife Sea' played as the maid of honour and bridesmaids followed by the bride walked up the aisle accompanied by her father.

Steve Wonder 'Signed Sealed and Delivered played whilst Mollie and Mat sat quietly for few moments under the gazebo signing their certificate. The exit music played as the guests threw heaps of confetti over them before following the couple out to have their professional photos taken on another lawn area

Wedding Readings

Mollie's brother Jack read 'Marriage is Madness'

Wedding Ritual : Handfasting

The guests were in awe as we incorporated handtying into the ceremony, this ritual originating from the phrase 'tying of the knot'. The couple choose colours that were meaningful to them, including baby pink representing the baby Mollie was carrying which was quite a surprise to some of their guests - even more so when they thought I was hinting at the baby's gender, then we teased them with using the blue colour too!

I asked the couple to join hands, then both mothers, Alison and Sarah, came up and draped ribbons over their hands representing each family and welcoming them into their families. The ribbon colours were chosen from each family's coat of arms.

Then I draped yellow ribbon to represent the couple's fun personality followed by the pink and blue ribbons representing their baby due soon, and their future babies.I then tied them together binding them once for the past, two for the present and third time for their future. They kept their tied ribbons as a keepsake of their wedding.

Wedding Ritual : Jumping the Broom

This ritual is a celtic tradition of sweeping away the past then the couple jumping over it to represent jumping into new adventures together. We included this at the end of our wedding service, and my hand carved besom ceremonial broom was used.

the broom was placed at the end of the aisle ready for the couple to jump over it at the end of their ceremony

Signing Wedding Ceremonial Certificate

The couple choose to sign their blessing certificate in front of all their guests

The couple then went to the lake to get some intimate photos captured
